1. Which data comes from OpenStreetMap
--------------------------------------
Source: Geofabrik extract israel-and-palestine-261030.osm.pbf (OpenStreetMap data as of 30 Oct 2026, md5 3d9be95a0407ac3d996ddd1ea881172f), processed locally with pyosmium.

In aliyah-atlas-odbl.zip:
- synagogues.geojson synagogues (OpenStreetMap, merged with the Be'er Sheva municipal list; a municipal record within 60 m of an
                          OpenStreetMap synagogue, and a second synagogue with the same name within 50 m, are removed as duplicates)
- mikvaot.geojson mikvaot (Ministry of Religious Services list, matched to and merged with OpenStreetMap mikveh points)
- yeshivot.geojson yeshivot and kollelim (OpenStreetMap)
- kosher.geojson kosher eateries and shops (OpenStreetMap)
- community.geojson       community centres (OpenStreetMap)
- worship_other.geojson other places of worship (OpenStreetMap)
- neighbourhoods.geojson neighbourhood names and points (OpenStreetMap)
- streets.geojson street names and simplified street lines (OpenStreetMap)

The same data is used by the site's own files in /data/:
- streets.json and streets/<locality>.json (street names and lines), index.json (street and neighbourhood names);
- city/<locality>.json, fields: hoods, syn, mikve, yeshiva, kosher, community, worship.

2. Records that come from official sources (keep crediting them)
----------------------------------------------------------------
Every merged record says where it comes from, in the property "source":
- synagogues: "OpenStreetMap" or "Be'er Sheva municipality";
- mikvaot: "Ministry of Religious Services" or "OpenStreetMap".
Official records are published on data.gov.il under its terms of use (reuse allowed with the source named).
The other data on the site (CBS census and localities figures, Ministry of Education institutions, olim data, contact details)
is NOT part of this offer and stays under the terms of its publishers; see https://aliyah-atlas.pages.dev/credits/ .

3. Fields
---------
All files: GeoJSON (WGS 84, longitude/latitude), property "locality_code" = CBS locality code.
- synagogues: name_he, name_en, denomination (OSM denomination / nusach tag), source
- mikvaot: name, address, phone, women, men, kelim (vessels), brides, accessibility, location_precision, source
  (location_precision "locality" = the ministry gives no usable address: the point is only the locality centre; do not use it as a location)
- yeshivot, community: name_he, name_en
- kosher: name, kind (OSM amenity/shop), kosher (OSM diet:kosher value)
- worship_other: religion, name
- neighbourhoods: osm_id, name_he, name_en, name_fr, place
- streets: name_he, name_en, name_fr, length_m; geometry simplified to at most about 10 points per street
